Somehow, somewhere another year almost passed, the Witch Queens of the Devil let Christmas rot in the realms of deepest Hell but their king saw an opportunity. Satan, exhausted with ten thousand years of heat decided to fool the Queens with a plan, "should you shovel all the snow from earth into the cracks of hell you will surely dampen the humans festivities and create panic of polar ice caps melting, the ozone layer being destroyed and they will fight, war and destroy themselves with fear and greed to hold onto supplies..."
The Queens, roared with a disgusting laughter with the premise that they would ruin the world at Christmas, and sure enough under the guise of the devils plan quickly went to work shoveling the snow deep into the pits of Hell. As swiftly as the snow started to melt so too did the fires of Hell start to extinguish. The Queens without thought of consequences began to shriek and scream in agonising pain as the frosty air traveled the earth through hell and their putrid, rancid, pus and scab covered bodies began to rot filling the air with a stench of death until nothing but shitty ashes of their remains lay on the ground.
Satan, exhaled, stood up from his throne made of human bones, his flesh slowly cooled and the red tint to his skin vanished. He was just a man. A man who feared nothing and felt no pain.
Bored, Satan let loose Hell's captives; unburdened by the task of ruling his hate filled kingdom for the first time felt free, free-er more as a man than he ever felt as a King. Out of the depths of hell and onto the earth he roamed the lands, wisps of his beard swayed in the gentle winds, he knew that ten thousand years of mistake and sin would be hard to shake but he felt fresh and alive for the first time.
After walking for thirteen miles, maybe more, Satan's skin felt hydrated from the skies rain and his hooves began to soften to reveal feet and toes from walking the landscapes. There stood before him was a creature... an animal Satan had not seen before, it didn't have the steely stare of a killer nor the razor sharp teeth, horns and claws he had come to expect; it was soft and fluffy, two words that Satan had never spoke of before. It was a rabbit, its paw caught in a trap, a trap no doubt set by one of the Devils own henchmen. He knelt down before the rabbit and did not feel the need to profit from the animals misfortune, he did not feel the need to crucify it; he gently prised the trap open with his hands, cutting his own flesh and he bled just as any man would and he felt the sharp sensation of pain. Carrying the rabbit to a nearby lake, he washed and cleansed his wound but not until he had tended for the rabbit first. He felt something he hadn't before, he felt good about himself, as his desire for ego and power began to shrink so too did his conscience began to grow, he was now on his road to redemption, which he knew would be long, hard and full of suffering.
Satan walked through dark dull wet caves, over grassy hills, swam clear rivers and climbed snowy mountains, yet he had not met another soul since the rabbit, and he could feel the heat rising, was he approaching another hell? Beneath his feet was sand, sand was all he could see in the horizon ahead with the exception of a yellow orb in the bluest skies he had ever seen. Hot and arid; no moisture in the air - Satan walked for just half a mile, sweat poured from his pores, and his skin began to redden and ache, "What is happening to me, I know this feeling... I know this place, I will soon re-enter the flames... I must turn back..."
Then out of haze of the heat, a woman walked towards him, a woman not covered in burns but with silky smooth skin as she approached, her naked body offered firm breasts, delicately curved hips and legs so perfectly formed he could not take his eyes of her, wrapping a robe to cover her body she spoke from her tender lips "I am Alice Goddess of the Desert and I welcome you..."
"I am Lucifer, King of Hell." Satan said abruptly.
"Whispers from the trees reveal that hell has frozen over and the King has lost his throne!" Spoke Alice.
"Perhaps those whispers are wrong, I left my throne free of will, I shall not return to hell but I am happy as just a man."
"For one so happy you look depressed and I see fear in your eyes."
"I left hell but I can feel its heats, I know I have re-entered another kings hell and I must now leave before I am greeted by the flames I detested so much. This place is barren and I sense full of hatred " Said Satan as he turned to leave.
"STOP!" Demanded the beautiful goddess, "You must forget what you associate with heat and you must trust me, happiness requires trust and an open heart."
"I DON'T CARE FOR YOUR OPINION ALICE, if that is EVEN your name. I do not know you. I do not trust you. And each and every woman I have known before you would swap her only child for a drop of whisky. Why should I assume you are anything but a bitch."
Shaking her head but keeping eye contact Alice's voice lost the soft tender tones, "Lucifer, should you live with negativity, always looking for bitterness, never trusting, you close yourself to possibilities, don't close the door to happiness before you've experienced what lies ahead, you must trust before you mistrust."
"Why should I trust you..."
"WHY?! I am quite offended. Do I look dishonest? Must you assume I am a liar! I am NOT a trickster and you should NOT assume I am the same as the bitches you have met before."
The Devil shaked his head and she spoke again, "If you chose to trust me, you will enter the desert, we will walk for thirteen miles and we will stop at a place, the most beautiful place you will ever see, with strong palm trees with the freshest juiciest fruits on offer, plentiful water from the springs and you will find the richest riches, not of possessions but of love, happiness , security, honesty and forgiveness, you will be free from your past and you will find your heaven..."
At that the devil stubborn turned his back and walked away.
Just days ago Lucifer left the fiery tombs of hell he hated so much not realising at this very moment that he chose not to trust he had just entered his own personal hell; for eternity he would now roam the earth alone...
